#nailfail

Hello!

It's been a while again – sorry about that. The school year is closing up, which means piles of events and final projects. Since the last post, there's been Senior Ball and an AP English trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. Both were pretty fantastic... maybe I'll write about them later.

For now, my first nail fail documented on this blog.

Like all other manis, this one began with good intentions. The goal was to emulate cracked opal, which meant hairline cracks on top of muted rainbow splotches. Well... I tried. The cracks ended up being a little too thick, and the muted colors weren't quite as visible as they should've been (and entirely too blue). The stone portion came off closer to marble than opal, possibly because the only neutral sheer I own is a gray and not an off-white or buff shade.

I'll possibly re-attempt this mani someday. Until then, though, I need to acquire a warmer sheer and fluorescent pink, green, and blue. And an actual fine nail art brush! I should really get on that...

Colors used:

  • Forever 21 Overcast – sheer grey with subtle silver shimmer
  • Julep Hope – white creme with "satin" semi-matte finish
  • Julep Char – midnight blue creme
  • Color Club [Unnamed] – cobalt blue
  • Essie Cute As A Button – bright semi-coral pink
  • Orly Viridian Vinyl – teal green creme with plastic semi-matte finish
  • Floss Gloss Pony – pastel neon peach creme
